MILITARY TRANSITION CORE VALUES WORKSHEET

When we join the military we adopt great values that will stick for us with life. As we transition from the military is important to take some self-awareness time to define our own post-military core values.

When you define your own core values, it becomes easier to focus on the mission that matters to you! That’s why we created the Military Core Values Worksheet — because your personal values are vital to the foundational strength of your life beyond the uniform.

In the military numerous life decisions are laid out for us. What to wear, how to speak, when to work out, medical check ups, finances, housing, where to work, and more. In the real world, the decision making ball is in your court. This paradigm shift is a huge shock for most veterans. Your personal values are what will help guide your behavior and decision making when “Big Military” isn’t there to make them for you.

Without defining your own core values, your journey in the real world will not have a firm ground to build upon. Having your own core values will enable you to evolve beyond the construct of what works in day to day military life and ensure you align with the things, people, and opportunities you believe in beyond the uniform.

“Defining your personal core values during military transition is like defining your next mission in life. Exiting the military without defining your own is dangerous.” — Bernard Edwards

After defining your core values it is beneficial to turn them into action items — the habits and routines which will aid you in setting your goals and improving your life in the real world.
